Waterfall Hikes
- Waterfall Hikes are some of the most popular day-hike destinations of the area; with trails ranging from easy to strenuous.
- Abrams Falls Trail
- 5-mile round-trip, begins at the Abrams Fall parking lot, Cades Cove Loop Road. This is a relatively flat trail making its way up to the 20-foot high Abrams Falls, which tumbles into the scenic pool below. The trailhead is midway around the Cades Cove Loop Road, before reaching the Cable Mill area and visitors center.
- Chasteen Creek Falls
- A 4-mile round-trip hike, starts at the Smokemont Campground, by taking Bradley Fork Trail, which begins in "D" loop, then onto the Chasteen Creek Trail, 1.1 miles later.
- Grotto Falls
- A 3-mile round-trip hike, is an easy hike beginning on Roaring Fork, just outside downtown Gatlinburg, taking you to the grotto where you can walk behind the falls.
- Hen Wallow Falls
- A 4 ½ mile round-trip hike, is a moderate trail leading to the top of the falls, where the 95' falls cascade over the rocks, and a steep narrow side trail leads to the bottom. Take the Gabes Mountain Trail that begins at the Cosby Campground, and extends into an old-growth forest beyond the falls.
- Indian Creek Falls
- A 2-mile round-trip hike, is a flat trail offering an easy walk to these picturesque falls that cascade 60 feet down a series of ledges into a wide pool. The trailhead is at the end of Deep Creek Road past the campground.
- Juneywhank Falls
- A 1 ½ mile round-trip moderate trail trek, starts on Deep Creek Road, near the campground, and takes you to Juneywhank Falls, with its 125' cascade.
- Laurel Falls
- A 2-½ mile round-trip trail, begins 3 miles west of the Sugarlands Visitor Center on Little River Road. This trail is paved, making it easy for families with strollers and our senior citizens, to enjoy this beautiful walk through the forest to the falls.
- Rainbow Falls
- A 5 ½ mile moderate, round-trip trail, starts from the Rainbow Falls parking area on Cherokee Orchard Road, near Gatlinburg, and takes you to the impressive falls with its 80' sheer drop.
- Ramsey Cascades Trail
- An 8-mile round-trip, strenuous trek, leads you to the park's highest waterfall, passing through an old-growth deciduous forest before reaching the 100-foot high Ramsey Cascades. From Greenbrier, follow signs to the Ramsey Cascades trailhead. (WARNING: Do not attempt to climb to the top of the falls; several attempts have resulted in fatalities.)
